Flying to Glory by C.E.K. Nelson, oil painting by author

This poem honors my friend’s horse, MAK, who was tragically killed by a semi truck during the middle of the night while being stolen from the barn where he lived.

Painting: Flying to Glory, oil on canvas- still in progress.

Beautiful picture and poem. I’m very sorry for the loss of your friend’s horse especially in such horrible circumstances. I hope the horse is at peace now.

Oh my goodness! Thank you so much!! I will pass this on to her as today is her birthday. Loosing such a large animal that has been in your life for many years is so difficult!!! I too have horses, but I have never been through such a horrible tragedy with them. P.S. – we have been friends for 36 years! Thank you again!!! 🙂

You’re welcome. I understand the devastation of losing an animal especially one that has been part of your life for so long. I send my sympathies to your friend as well as birthday wishes. I hope she manages to enjoy her day a little bit despite the grief. You sound a really good friend and its such a beautiful picture. Blessings to you both!
