SISTER BLISTER, poem by C.E.K. Nelson, Illustration by Author
My sister,
she’s like a blister
on my foot.
I can’t stomp her out,
it hurts too much.
She’s painful
for sure,
she is my flesh.
I keep waiting
for her
to pop,
so I can heal.
But she persists.
And I must walk
straight,
disabled.
Each step
sends
throbbing,
emotions
up my leg
to my heart.
But still,
She’s my sister.
