Photography, It’s All In The Family…

It’s All In The Family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, my husband is not the only photographer in the family…Ah yes, I did receive my fair share of recognition this year from IPA and that announcement is to come! Besides being so excited for my husband, I couldn’t be more happy for my son!!!! He was the master mind behind Water Flowers and our collaboration of photographs were awarded two separate Honorable Mentions for Seasons category and Flowers category! As a mother and artist, I can not tell you what this means. My family puts up with my mess of art projects, stopping to take a photo, the many requests to help out, be a model or hold a prop. Instead of resenting my endeavors, they have embraced the art and taken it as their own! I have inspired two people to explore their creativity…. THAT is what this is all about!! Sharing passions, sharing art and inspiring others to explore a side of themselves that they didn’t know existed!!! Congratulations A. Krumpelt!!! xoxo, Mom!

Artpoetography series revisited…..

Revisiting my Artpoetography The Take Over photography series inspired by my two poems, Rising Coup and High Coup, speaking to the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 in China (The Chinese government military, with assault rifles and tanks, inflicted casualties on unarmed civilians trying to block the military’s advance towards Tiananmen Square in the heart of Beijing)and the economic take over of China over the U.S. in recent years. Still working on developing the series and currently fine tuning this image in Photoshop.

A girls gotta do what a girls gotta do!!!

Driving home, my eyes caught a beautiful field filled with light and flowers at the golden hour of around 7:30pm. I just had to pull over, get out, trudge through long grass, weeds and trees… jump a fence and proceed to get eaten alive by mosquitos….but the light was so beautiful! When I got home, I discovered that most of my photos were not in focus-not even an “Unsharp Mask” filter in Photoshop would help my images! Alas, always remember your shutter speed and lens focal length…in my excitement, I did not. I was lucky to get a few good shots for my trouble. Now I better go check myself for ticks!!! Have a good evening! Cheers!!

Layering and texture in photography…

Layering and texture!
Layering using unusual elements such as water can add depth and texture to your photographs creating unique fine art images!! Try anything that is translucent and put it between your lens and the subject to see what you get! Good luck!!
TRANSLUCENT-(of a substance) allowing light, but not detailed images, to pass through; semitransparent:

In order to get this shot, the subjects submersed themselves in Lake Monroe, Southern Indiana! Keeping our lakes and rivers clean -of trash and pollutants-allows us to create images such as these and have some fun as well!

Photography inspired by Old Master painters!

In this series of photographs, Painterly Flowers-Roses, I was inspired to create images that spoke to the “Old Master” painters, Renoir, Vermeer and Toulouse Lautrec. My interpretation of their work resulted in a loose painterly style, elusive and almost a blurred brush stroke effect so that the subject has a dream like quality. The colors emulate those of the “Old Master’s”,  palette-dark with light flooding in- similar to Vermeer.

Thank You 1650 Gallery- Flower Power 2014 Photography Exhibit
